Joakim Nordanstig is Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Vascular Surgery at the Institute of Medicine, Department of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He has authored or co-authored 55 peer-reviewed scientific publications and currently has 59 PubMed entries. He is an academic senior vascular surgeon at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden. His principal research interest centers around evidence-based diagnosis, treatment and overall management of peripheral arterial disease, and he has conducted several clinical trials within this research area. He has been chairman for the National Quality Registry for Vascular Surgery (Swedvasc) and started the first registry-based randomized clinical trial ever conducted within Swedvasc. He is a member of European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) and a member of the Editorial Board for European Journal for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. He is the Writing Committee Chair for the upcoming PAD guidelines (focusing on asymptomatic PAD and intermittent claudication) that are currently being developed by the ESVS.
