Matthew is the current Director of Research for the South West Sydney Limb Preservation and Wound Research Academic Unit, and also the Head of Department for the High-Risk Foot Service at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney. Matthew holds a Senior Lecturer position in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology, School of Medicine, Western Sydney University, and is a Fellow, Faculty of Podiatric Medicine, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow. Matthew completed his PhD In 2018 with his thesis focused on the use of molecular and microscopy techniques to better understand Diabetes Foot Infections and the role of biofilms in human health and disease. Currently, Matthew’s research focus is to better understand host-microbe interactions and how they intersect to cause foot infections in persons with diabetes.
