Dr. Al-Hasan graduated from the faculty of medicine at the University of Jordan in 2000 and received Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Kentucky in 2005. He then moved to Minnesota where he received Infectious Disease fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic and Certificate of Clinical Research Training Program at Mayo Graduate School in 2008. He then joined the University of Kentucky as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine. Dr. Al-Hasan joined the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2013. Dr. Al-Hasan is a Professor of Medicine and Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Center of Excellence at Prisma Health-Midlands. He is a founding and advisory board member of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Collaborative of South Carolina.

Dr. Al-Hasan has established himself as a prominent figure in the fields of bloodstream infections, antimicrobial resistance, and antimicrobial stewardship. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and serves as a reviewer for several journals of infectious diseases, clinical microbiology, and antimicrobial agents.

Dr. Al-Hasan enjoys travelling, soccer and spending time with his family.
