Dr Pamela Chen is an early career researcher and emerging international clinical research leader in diabetes-related foot disease. With over three years of experience following her PhD conferral in August 2022, Dr Chen has already made significant contributions to both national and international clinical guidelines. She serves as Secretary for the Australian Diabetes-related Foot Disease Guidelines (2021) and the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) Wound Healing Guidelines (2023, 2027)
Pam is a senior Podiatrist working with the Fiona Stanley Hospital Multidisciplinary Diabetes Foot Ulcer Unit and a South Metropolitan Health Service/Curtin University Allied Health Research Fellow. Her research interests span prevention, offloading and wound healing in diabetes-related foot disease. Pam is the immediate past President of the Advanced Practicing Podiatrists – High Risk Foot Group in Australia, a steering committee member of Diabetes Feet Australia and she sits on a number of committees and networks relating to diabetes foot disease nationally.
Outside of work Pam is an endurance athlete and is always training for her next event. She enjoys a good gin, is owned by a number of rescue cats and specialises in fostering and rehoming cats with diabetes.
