Associate Professor Perrin is the Associate Dean- Academic Partnerships for the La Trobe Rural Health School, La Trobe University, Australia and longstanding Steering Committee member and now Immediate Past Chair of Diabetes Feet Australia (DFA). A podiatrist, with a clinical foundation of setting up and managing a high-risk foot service in a major regional hospital, Dr. Perrin continues to devote his research and advocacy activities to the prevention of lower limb amputation in people with diabetes. Through DFA this has included the adaptation of the IWGDF DFD clinical guidelines for the Australian context, identifying the top research priorities for Australian stakeholders in diabetes-related foot disease (DFD) and setting the national strategic agenda for reducing the burden of DFD in Australia.  He has also undertaken research investigating the characteristics of DFD in regional Australia, the psychological and behavioural aspects of DFD and the use of technology to assist with the prevention of DFD. The aim of the current research of Dr. Perrin is to develop effective interventions to prevent DFD in people with diabetes.
