Dr Jennifer Pallin is a podiatrist and senior postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Chronic Disease and Population Health Research (Converge) in the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI). She is experienced in population health research, health services research, epidemiology, implementation science and evidence synthesis. She holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from University College Dublin and a PhD in Public Health and Health Services Research from University College Cork. Her doctoral research, funded through Ireland’s Health Research Board’s Collaborative Doctoral Programme “Diabetic Foot Disease: From Prevention to Improved Patient Outcomes,” focused on improving the organisation of care within Ireland to prevent diabetes-related ulcerations and amputations. She was also a scholar in the SPHeRE Programme (Structured Population and Health-services Research Education).
Prior to her research career, Jennifer worked as a clinical podiatrist in Ireland’s Health Service Executive, where her role focused on the prevention and management of diabetes-related foot complications. In her current role, she contributes to work exploring the burden, impact and trends of diabetes-related complications. She also co-leads the evidence synthesis and the public and patient education and engagement workstream, co-ordinating communication and knowledge translation across the centre’s diverse research activities.
