Stephan Morbach is a specialist in internal medicine, diabetology and angiology and Senior Consultant in the Department of Diabetology and Angiology at the Marienkrankenhaus in Soest and a Visiting Researcher at Institute for Health Services Research and Health Economics, Centre for Health and Society, Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf, Germany. He is Corresponding author of several guidelines for the Diabetic Foot and was Chairman of the Diabetic Foot Study Group of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) 2004–2008. In the past years, he has served as Vice Chairman of the ‘Consultative Section on the Diabetic Foot’ of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and of D-FOOT International. In the course of the Step-by-Step Programme, he has delivered medical education in several developing countries.
