Dr. Michelle Kaminski is a podiatrist by background and is now the Podiatry Research Lead at Monash Health in Melbourne, Australia. She holds adjunct academic appointments as a Senior Research Fellow at Monash University and Lecturer at La Trobe University. With over 15 years of clinical and research experience, Michelle has led several large-scale projects focused on the prevention and management of high-risk foot conditions. Her work has directly influenced models of care and service delivery, particularly in renal- and diabetes-related foot disease.
A strong advocate for translational research, Michelle is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of clinician-researchers and advancing evidence-based care to reduce avoidable amputations. She collaborates closely with multidisciplinary clinical and research teams to improve outcomes for people living with complex foot conditions and chronic diseases. Michelle is an active member of the Asia Pacific Diabetic Foot Ulcer Group and serves on the editorial boards of the International Wound Journal and the Journal of Wound Management.
Michelle was a key contributor to the Australian guidelines for diabetes-related foot disease, serving as secretary and first author of the Prevention Guideline. She has also recently joined the international panel for the 2027 update of the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) Offloading Guideline.
