Prof Agnès Hartemann, MD, PhD, trained in medicine in Sorbonne Université Médecine in Paris, France, and then specialized in endocrinology and metabolic diseases. She is at the head of the diabetes department of Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris (the hospital where Jean Martin Charcot described the famous Charcot’s foot in the 1880s, where a multidisciplinary diabetic foot center has been implemented for 20 years. She is a member of the diabetic foot group of the Société Française de Diabétologie, and was in charge of the French Guidelines on diabetic painful neuropathy in 2011. Her field of research is the lower limbs vascular calcification in diabetes. She has been a member of the expert panel on “wound healing interventions” for the IWGDF guidelines for 8 years.
