Consultant Diabetologist

King’s College London, UK

Dr Prash Vas is a Consultant Diabetologist and Diabetic Foot Physician at Kings College Hospital, London. The King’s Diabetes Foot Clinic was the first dedicated multidisciplinary foot clinic in the world and is one of UK’s largest units dealing with complex diabetic (and sometimes non diabetic) foot problems. He has research interests in diabetic neuropathy, especially small fibre neuropathy and in validation of new techniques designed to detect neuropathy and also, in the management of the diabetic foot.  His work with Gerry Rayman at Ipswich Hospital led to the development of the Ipswich Touch Test, now widely recognised as a simple reliable method to assess loss of protective foot sensation, which has been taken up by Diabetes UK as the ‘Touch the Toes’ test.
